We Left Our Hearts in Florence

Next stop? Florence.  The most beautiful city in Italy in our opinion.  The first day we arrived and saw this:

Beautiful right? So where to begin with Florence?  A beautiful river runs right through the center of the city.  There is a delicious gelatto shop on every corner. Amazing churches and of course it is the home of the one and only David created by Michelangelo.  We could probably create a whole post only on him and how beautiful he is.  We may do that in the future. Keep your eyes out for him. All we'll say now is he is grand, he is beautiful, he is perfect.

This city is absolutely wonderful and we fell in love right away. We had a lot of time to explore and take on whatever we could. This included toasty hot weather, pigeons, large markets with Italian bartering, pigeons, large mountains to see great views, pigeons, tiny bed rooms, pigeons, temperamental internet connections, creepy statue like men, pigeons, much art work, and ya, PIGEONS. They are literally everywhere and will take your head off if you aren't watching.

Please enjoy some Florentine photos:

Yes, that is a real live man. If you stood too close you risked being wrapped up in his arms for an awkward amount of time.
A beastly walk up a million stairs (no exaggeration necessary) to get this view. Lovely.

Enjoying the view of Florence.

Hey look! We can take decent pictures.

Pompeii

Though we have not posted in many days, we still are doing much catching up. The next on the list, Pompeii. this place really surprised us. It was so much cooler than we thought it was going to be. It really is a little city pretty much intact. All you need are roofs and you pretty much have a full functioning town with running water and amphitheaters for entertainment. We have already looked into purchasing a lot there for a cute rambler. :) Enjoy some pics of the day. We loved it here.

We don't get much sleep at night and trains pretty much lull you to sleep.

Pompeii!!

YEE!

The Amphitheater

This is an old fashioned crosswalk for when they would rinse the streets off with water.

Third style of Roman wall art

stray dogs are everywhere, including Alexander the Great as he heads off to battle

There are Poppies everywhere! The three of us love them the most.

We Are Here! We Are Here!

Here begins our journey to the distant land of Europe.  After a huge fiasco at the airport with an angry midget man with a complex we finally got on an airplane and flew ten hours to the beautiful land of Roma.

We figure that pictures say a thousand words each so therefore they are perfect for blogs!

We were on that plane for far too long.  Shout out to my short bangs!
Quick recap seeing how we've already been here for a week... oops. :/

Highlights of Rome:

The Pantheon day one.

Check, check, check it out. It's the Colosseum and we are inside of it.

Lesbian engagement photo? We thought so too.

Pigeon poop on patio.

Lighting a candle for Marie. Quite the experience everyone needs to have.

Church in Italy.

Caravaggio!!

Us in front of the Laocoon listening to are professor lecture at the Vatican.

Mama Mia! Pizza! (We've definately eaten this stuff at least once a day.)

Saddest day of my life. Visitng John Keats gravesite in the rain to find out it was closed. I'll come back John. Wait for me.

We'll add more details when we get home tonight. We're in Venice and we must see the sun set on the rivers. Love you all!!

Ciao,
